👧🏻 All About Me — From Me to My Community

This month, we began with the most important person in every child’s world — themselves! Through hands-on activities, stories, music, art, and conversations, children explored who they are, what makes them unique, and how they connect with the people and world around them.

🫶 My Body & Inside My Body
We learned about different parts of our bodies and discovered what happens inside our bodies. Children explored simple concepts about the heart, lungs, bones, muscles, and the amazing ways our bodies work together.

😊 My Emotions
Children explored different feelings and learned that all feelings are okay. Through stories, facial expressions, music, and pretend play, we practiced naming emotions, expressing ourselves, and recognizing how others may feel.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 My Family
We talked about the people who are special to us and what makes every family unique. Children explored family members, counted family members, shared family photos, and created their own family artwork.

🏡 My Community
Our learning expanded from “me” to “my community.” We discovered the important people and places around us, including police officers, firefighters, students, sanitation workers, schools, police stations, and fire stations. Through role-play and our MouseBot activities, children practiced matching, sorting, sequencing, and directions while learning how different community helpers keep our neighborhoods safe and cared for.

🔵 International Dot Day

Connect • Create • Celebrate!

Inspired by The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds, we explored the idea that a small dot can be the beginning of something wonderful.

🎨 Children experimented with dots, circles, colors, patterns, and different art materials.
🔵 We explored how a single dot can become a line, a circle, a picture, or an entirely new idea.
🎵 Through music and movement, we connected dots with rhythm, beats, and patterns.
💡 We encouraged children to be curious, creative, and brave enough to make their own mark.

Every child has a dot to share, and every dot can become something special! ✨

🌕 Mid-Autumn Festival

Moon • Family • Reunion • Tradition

We celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival, one of the traditional Chinese festivals centered around the moon, family, and togetherness.

🌕 We learned about the full moon, family reunion, lanterns, mooncakes, and the traditional story of Chang’e and the Moon Rabbit.

🥮 Children explored different shapes, colors, and designs of mooncakes and made their own snow-skin mooncakes, choosing their favorite fillings and shapes.

🏮 Through lantern-inspired art and hands-on activities, children experienced some of the traditions and symbols of the festival.

🔢 We also incorporated early math and literacy into our activities by counting, comparing quantities, exploring Chinese numbers, recognizing shapes and patterns, and connecting our learning to the idea of “from a dot to a circle.”

Most importantly, we talked about how the moon can bring families together — even when we are far apart. ❤️

From one little dot to a full moon, from “me” to “we” — September was a month of discovering, creating, connecting, and celebrating together. 🌱🔵🌕✨
