We explored Chinese New Year through a variety of fun and engaging learning activities:

✨ Learning about the Chinese Zodiac
Through stories and pictures, the children were introduced to the twelve zodiac animals and the tradition behind them. They explored this cultural story through observation and interaction.

🍊 Fruit Matching & Counting Practice
Using our “New Year fruit plates,” children played matching games by grouping the same foods together while practicing increasing numbers. This hands-on activity helped strengthen early number sense.

🔤 Letter T & the Chinese Character “人” (person)
Children learned the letter T t in playful ways, connecting it with movements and familiar objects. We also explored the Chinese character “人”, observing its simple strokes and appreciating the beauty of both English letters and Chinese characters.

🎨 Following Steps to Recreate a Masterpiece
The children followed simple steps to create their own version of Paul Klee’s artwork Cat and Bird, discovering the joy of artistic expression through simple lines and colors.

🌍We explored the beauty of traditional Chinese blue-and-white porcelain, observing the elegance of its blue patterns and flowing lines. We also learned about traditional German clothing and discovered what people wear in different parts of the world.

Through observation and discussion, the children began to appreciate the diversity of cultures around the globe.

🎵 Music Appreciation
We listened to It's a Small World, written by Sherman Brothers, and enjoyed its cheerful melody celebrating the idea that the world is one big family.

Through play, creativity, and exploration, the children experienced culture in meaningful ways—taking small steps to discover the big world around them. 🌏✨

The LOVE in February

In February, we talked about love and kindness as we celebrated Valentine's Day. We discussed caring for others, friendship, and respect. The children also prepared small surprises for each other and shared joyful moments together.

February is also Black History Month. We gently introduced the story of Ruby Bridges, helping children understand that even if people have different skin colors, everyone can learn, grow, and play together.

During a color-mixing activity, we blended different colors to create many beautiful “skin tones.” The children discovered that everyone’s color is different—and every color is beautiful ❤️

During music time, we used rhythm sticks while listening to the Chinese poem Spring Dawn, following simple rhythms and enjoying music together.

Through these activities, the children explored culture, colors, and music while learning kindness and respect for others. 🌈✨
